American would not stand for that. There are many efforts and campaigns to reduce, reuse, and recycle in the States now at least. They just seem to be ineffective as the majority of people don't see the harm or expect scientist to solve the problems. I could see how your not the only one who has that impression of Americans. Do mind however that it is a bit of a stereotype.Christopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09006382926717937501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4441066086891588273.post-14582141711243542962011-11-22T10:30:32.262-08:002011-11-22T10:30:32.262-08:00'I’m still not exactly quite sure how conserva...'I’m still not exactly quite sure how conservation here differs greatly from in the States' - well Europe has been tackling these issues for a long time. I saw recycling schemes in Austria 20 yrs ago. In England we've only really just got into it in the past couple of years. But we are trying to reduce our usage of fuels although the exhorbitant cost of gas, electricity and petrol are huge motivators. I know little of the States but my impression is that Americans have an attitude of 'it's my right to drive a big gas guzzling car' and 'if I want to use up the world's resources because I can then I will' and 'who cares about anyone else'. I have no sense of the US looking to reduce, reuse and conserve only of trying to stop everyone else in the world increasing their use of resources, particularly people who use only a fraction of what each person in the west uses up.Pusiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18297277828528252864noreply@blogger.com
